Hi, Bot

AI literacy shouldn't depend on your zip code.

Every kid will grow up directing, checking, and living alongside AI. Hi, Bot's free library teaches the thinking underneath — on paper, with a photocopier, at a kitchen table. No tuition. No student logins. No laptop cart.

Pick the path that fits where you are. Each one starts this week with what you already have.

› What “AI-ready” means

Four skills every kid will need.

Having an AI app isn't the gap — nearly every family has a phone. The gap is knowing how these systems work and how to work with them. Every free resource here builds one of these four skills.

Understand
AI predicts from patterns in examples. It doesn’t know things the way people do — and that explains most of what it gets wrong.
Direct
Break a job into steps, ask clearly, and give the machine the right examples. Directing well is the new version of doing it yourself.
Verify
Fluent isn’t the same as true. Check claims, follow citations to the source, and notice when a confident answer is wrong.
Decide
When to use it, when not to, what data you’re handing over, and who gets hurt when a system is unfair. That call stays human.

› The free library

Everything here is free to use today.

The thinking isn’t the expensive part.

Tutors, coding academies, and prep programs sell AI readiness by the hour or the semester. The thinking underneath — how a model predicts, why it sounds sure when it’s wrong, how to check it, when to say no — fits on a sheet of paper. So we put it on paper and made it free.

Free stays free. The paid Activities Pass and the Richmond clubhouse keep the lights on. Printed class sets for schools that can’t run a copier are covered by sponsors — either one the school already knows, or one we help find.

Questions people ask

Is this really free?

Yes. Every lesson, game, bundle, and course linked from this page is free to use. Some downloads ask for a grown-up’s email so we can send the file; nothing asks for a card, and no student ever needs an account.

Do we need computers or internet in the room?

No. The debate lessons, card games, printables, and season bundles run on paper. You need a printer or photocopier once; after that the lesson runs with no screens at all.

Does the teacher or parent need to know AI already?

No. Every lesson includes the background and vocabulary a grown-up needs, in plain language. If you can read a recipe, you can run a session.

What ages is this for?

Kids 8–16. Debate lessons are sorted into grades 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12; card games work for 8 and up; the First Principles course is for adults.

Can we photocopy and share it?

Yes. The season bundles ship with a giveaway license so a school, library, or co-op can copy them for every learner. Debate lessons and card games are free PDFs you can print as often as you like.

Do you collect data about students?

No. There are no student logins. The only sign-ups are grown-ups who ask us to email them a file or a lesson, and they can unsubscribe in one click.

Who pays for this?

Free stays free. The paid Activities Pass and the Richmond clubhouse keep the lights on. Printed class sets for schools that can’t run a copier are covered by sponsors — either one the school already knows, or one we help find.
