AI literacy shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

Every kid will grow up directing, checking, and living alongside AI. Hi, Bot’s free library teaches the thinking underneath — on paper, with a photocopier, at a kitchen table. No tuition. No student logins. No laptop cart. Pick the path that fits.

Understand

AI predicts from patterns in examples. It doesn’t know things the way people do — and that explains most of what it gets wrong.

Direct

Break a job into steps, ask clearly, and give the machine the right examples. Directing well is the new version of doing it yourself.

Verify

Fluent isn’t the same as true. Check claims, follow citations to the source, and notice when a confident answer is wrong.

Decide

When to use it, when not to, what data you’re handing over, and who gets hurt when a system is unfair. That call stays human.

For underfunded schools

Schools & classrooms

A printer or photocopier. One class period. No devices, no logins, no training day.
  1. This weekRun one debate lesson. Pick your grade band, print the teacher guide and student handouts, and run it.
  2. This monthKeep the exit tickets. Every lesson ends in an exit ticket.
  3. This seasonHand after-school a full season. Request a free season bundle: ~12 sequenced sessions and a facilitator season map, delivered as a ZIP you’re licensed to copy.
  4. Any timeLevel up the adults. The 48-lesson First Principles course gives teachers and volunteers the fundamentals, one short email a day.

For homeschool families

Homeschool on a budget

A printer, a table, and an hour or two a week. A device helps later but isn’t required to begin.
  1. Weeks 1–2Play the loop. Print Bot-Builders and play it as a family.
  2. Weeks 3–8Work through a season. Request the free Unplugged CS or AI Literacy season bundle and run one session a week.
  3. Weeks 9–10Argue about it. Pick a debate lesson for your learner’s grade band.
  4. Weeks 11–12Go self-paced. Older kids take the free AI Foundations course; you take First Principles alongside them, so you’re one step ahead, not one step behind.

For families at home

Families at home

A printer (a library printer works), scissors, and 30 minutes. You don’t need to understand AI first.
  1. TonightPrint a card game. Bot-Builders is a no-email download.
  2. This weekDo one printable together. Pick a free activity from the library.
  3. This monthLearn the words together. Use the AI concepts field guide at dinner: one word a night — model, training, hallucination, bias.
  4. When you’re readyGet one step ahead. Take First Principles yourself — a free lesson a day by email — while your kid tries the self-paced AI Foundations course.

The thinking isn’t the expensive part.

Tutors, coding academies, and prep programs sell AI readiness by the hour or the semester. The thinking underneath — how a model predicts, why it sounds sure when it’s wrong, how to check it, when to say no — fits on a sheet of paper. So we put it on paper and made it free.

It’s freeNo card, no tuition. Some downloads ask for a grown-up’s email.
No student loginsNo kid accounts and no student data collected.
