Frequently asked questions

What is Hi, Bot?

Hi, Bot is a library for kids ages 8–16 to learn AI by building. Families use it at home, including downloads made for offline use. Programs use it in rooms they already have. Start at hibot.space, or the free front door at hibot.space/free-ai-activities-for-kids.

How can I teach my kid about AI at home?

Start paper-first at the kitchen table. Print a free card game such as Bot-Builders (hibot.space/games/bot-builders) or Loop Slap, pick a free printable from hibot.space/printables, or follow the family path at hibot.space/access/families. Grown-ups who want the vocabulary first can take the free 48-lesson First Principles email course at hibot.space/first-principles, or read hibot.space/what-is-ai in under five minutes. No student login is required for the free library.

Are there free printable unplugged AI activities?

Yes. Hi, Bot’s free library includes paper card games at hibot.space/games, post-embargo craft printables at hibot.space/printables, classroom debate lesson PDFs at hibot.space/learn/debates, and free season bundles for programs at hibot.space/program-bundles (licensed to photocopy and give away). Many items are tagged for paper-only use — no screen in the room after you print. Browse by setup at hibot.space/access.

What AI activities work for kids aged 8-16?

Hi, Bot is built for ages 8–16. Card games and printables cover the younger end with a grown-up at the table; debate lessons are grouped by grades 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12; the free AI Foundations course at hibot.space/learn fits older kids who can work self-paced; and the build-a-bot challenge at hibot.space/challenge is for ages 12–16. A cold-share starter set aimed at about ages 10–14 is at hibot.space/free-ai-activities-for-kids. Each game or printable page lists its own fit.

What AI club activities work for libraries or homeschool co-ops?

Use materials designed for rooms you already have. Free season bundles at hibot.space/program-bundles ship a themed sequence (AI Literacy, Maker Studio, or Unplugged CS) with a giveaway license so a library or co-op can photocopy for every learner. Classroom debate lessons at hibot.space/learn/debates include teacher guides and student handouts. Card games at hibot.space/games work as club nights. Homeschool and co-op sequencing lives at hibot.space/access/homeschool; schools and libraries start at hibot.space/access/schools. For a free org showcase kit, see hibot.space/orgs.

What is a good Code.org alternative for AI at home?

If you want AI literacy at home without a block-coding platform or student accounts, Hi, Bot’s free library is built for that: kitchen-table card games, unplugged printables, debate lessons, and a self-paced AI Foundations course for ages 8–16. Start at hibot.space/free-ai-activities-for-kids or hibot.space/access/families. Hi, Bot teaches how AI systems sense, think, and act — on paper first — rather than shipping a coding IDE. It is not a drop-in replacement for every Code.org hour; it is the Hi, Bot shelf for AI-by-building at home and in programs.

Is Hi, Bot free?

A large free library is always free: games, many printables (after a short embargo for new packs), debate lessons, program season bundles, the AI Foundations course, First Principles for grown-ups, and 3D exhibits such as the Hardware Atlas. Some downloads ask for a grown-up’s email so Hi, Bot can send the file; nothing in the free library asks for a card, and no student needs an account. Optional paid products include the Activities Pass ($5/month or $39/year after a 14-day free trial) at hibot.space/activities/welcome — see hibot.space/pricing.

What is the Activities Pass?

The Activities Pass is unlimited access to the Hi, Bot Activities library — printable activity packs plus interactive AI, logic, math, and science activities for ages 8–16. It is $5/month or $39/year after a 14-day free trial (cancel anytime). Pass holders get new printables when they release instead of waiting for the free embargo window. Details and checkout: hibot.space/activities/welcome. Pricing overview: hibot.space/pricing.

Do kids need computers, accounts, or an internet connection?

Not for most of the free library. Debate lessons, card games, printables, and season bundles run on paper after you print them. Browser games such as Guard the Bot need one shared screen and do not create a student account. There are no student logins on the free paths described at hibot.space/access.

Is there a physical Hi, Bot clubhouse I can enroll in?

No. In 2026 Hi, Bot is a library families and programs use — at home or in rooms they already have. The word “clubhouse” in product copy describes the habit of coming back to a build, not a building with seats for sale. See hibot.space/about and hibot.space/programs.
