Hi, Bot

› Ages 12–16

Build a bot. Share the page.

A challenge for ages 12–16. Pick a job Hi, Bot already teaches, keep the clues that matter, and get a public page for your bot. No email. No real name.

Hi, Bot is building toward 10,000 uses. A bot you can send to a friend is one of them.

  1. 01

    Pick a job

Message sorter, game recommender, or library helper. The instructions are already written.

  2. 02

    Keep the clues

Each job has a fixed list. Your bot only pays attention to the ones you check.

  3. 03

    Share the page

A handle that is not a first name. Search engines stay off unless you turn them on.

Kid-safe on purpose

  • You never type the bot's instructions. Those lines are already written.
  • The handle cannot be a first name, an email, or a phone number.
  • The share page does not ask for or show a name, an email, an age, or a school.
  • Search stays off unless you check the box that turns it on.
  • A grown-up nearby is part of how Hi, Bot works. Read the safety notes.

The jobs

  • Message sorter

Sort messages into spam and not spam.

  • Game recommender

Guess whether a kid will like a board game.

  • Library helper

Tell whether a question is about opening hours or about books.

Learning rate, example count, and context size are already set. Your move is the clues. The score is the share of new cases the bot got right.
