Screen Hills (Videos)

Understanding Everyday AI: AI isn't magic — it's pattern recognition, and it's already all around you. Netflix recommendations, face unlock, voice assistants: how they actually work, in plain language.
Mastering Prompt Engineering: A prompt is just instructions to an AI — and the difference between a vague ask and a specific one is huge. Bad prompts vs. good prompts, side by side, with a challenge to try yourself.
Creating Your First Chatbot: From idea to working chatbot: pick a personality, write the system prompt, watch it come alive, then tweak until it's yours. Your first real AI build.
Bias in AI Data: AI is only as good as what it learns from. Garbage in, garbage out — what happens when training data is biased, why it matters for fairness, and how to think about data responsibly.
AI Careers Rising: AI isn't just something to learn about — it's a career path. Engineers, prompt specialists, data scientists, ethicists: the jobs that exist now, and why learning AI young is a real head start.
Shaping AI Ethics: AI is powerful, and somebody decides what it does. The real risks — misinformation, surveillance, bias — and the real benefits, plus what it takes to be a responsible builder. Your voice matters.
Next Steps in AI: You made it through the series — you're not a beginner anymore. A recap of everything you've learned and what comes next: build projects, keep learning, and find your community.

The Forum (Debate lessons)

Should a robot do your homework?: The homework helper is real. Is using it cheating, learning, or something in between?
Can a computer be your friend?: It remembers your name and says nice things. Does that make it a friend?
Who taught the robot? Is it fair?: The sorting robot only ever saw dogs. Now show it a cat.
Should the app decide what you watch?: Autoplay isn't magic. Somebody built it — and it has a goal.
Should schools allow AI for schoolwork?: Everyone is already using it. The question is what the rule should be.
Is it art if a machine made it?: It won the fair. Then they found out how it was made.
Should AI decide things about people?: The résumé screener downgraded anyone who played women's chess. Nobody told it to.
Deepfakes: should they be illegal?: It looks like her. It sounds like her. She never said it.
Should apps learn about you from your friends?: It suggested your cousin's best friend. You'd never met. How did it know?
Will AI take the jobs worth having?: Every generation was told the machines would take the work. Sometimes they did.
Who owns what the model learned?: The model read every book. Nobody asked the authors.
Can a machine understand anything?: It passed the bar exam. Does it know what a law is?

Popup Pier (Events)

Events: Where Hi, Bot shows up in person.
Popup lineup: Vote on the popup workshops you want next.
Builder events: Hands-on build sessions.

Newsstand Lane (Blog)

What we actually mean by supervision: Ratios, sightlines, chat logging, screen visibility. The unglamorous mechanics of how a room full of kids and AI tools stays supervised, hour to hour.
Why mistakes are the curriculum: Debugging isn't the obstacle between a kid and the lesson. Most of the time, it is the lesson — and we plan for it that way.
Build the machine that builds the machine: For kids 11–14: stop using AI to get one answer, and start using it to build tools that keep working after the chat closes. With notes for parents and teachers on why the habit matters and where it…
What changes when a kid ships something a stranger uses: A real user is a different kind of motivation than a grade or a parent's approval. Why we build every project toward that moment on purpose.
Keep generative AI on the teacher's side of the desk: Staff-meeting rule: generative AI may help adults prepare materials — it should not be the live tutor answering for students. Templates yes; student fact-chat no.
How we picked the four zones: Membership, after-school, camps, parties. Where that specific structure came from, and what we considered instead.
The questions parents ask before enrolling, answered straight: Cost, screen time, supervision, and whether your kid is the right age. The real answers, without the sales voice.
Bots are programs that talk back: What a bot actually is — under the hood, not the marketing — and how kids learn to build programs that listen, decide, and respond instead of just running once.
Sensors are how machines feel: An essay on what sensors actually do, why they're the hidden half of every robot and AI project, and how kids learn to trust — and doubt — what a machine thinks it knows.
Why we don't grade the projects: No rubric, no score, no letter grade on anything a kid builds here. That's a deliberate choice, and here's the reasoning behind it.
Systems thinking for kid builders: Why the best young builders learn to see the whole machine — inputs, outputs, feedback, failure — and how to practice that habit before the project gets complicated.
What is a computer board, actually?: A plain-language essay on the boards kids actually build with — microcontrollers, single-board computers, and the Jetson-class machines — and how to pick the right one without buying the wrong brain.
