› Hi, Bot Games

Loop Slap Slap the subsystem. Launch a bot. Take the chaos hit.

The founding Hi, Bot card game. Reader speaks a Bot Builder hint; everyone slaps SENSE, THINK, ACT, or POWER. Collect three cards — Sense, Think, Act — shout BOT!, recite one If/Then breath, then slap Chaos: WEIRD, EDGE, or TRUST. POWER is an optional bonus; there is no Mission card. Checkable like Uno — the fun verb is the lesson.

How to play

Slap the right subsystem base when the Reader speaks a hint. Collect SENSE + THINK + ACT — three cards, not four — then shout BOT! and say your bot in one breath. POWER is an optional bonus card, never a requirement. First player to 12 points wins.

  1. Quick start — read this, start playing

    • Put the four bases in the middle: SENSE · THINK · ACT · POWER. Flip one WHO + one WHAT beside them.
    • One person is Reader. They read a LOOP card's hint out loud, hiding the name. Everyone else slaps a base. First one right keeps that card. +1
    • Got SENSE + THINK + ACT in front of you? Slap the table, shout BOT! and say your bot in one breath. +3. Three cards — you do not need POWER.
    • Straight after a BOT, flip a CHAOS card. Slap it and shout its tag — WEIRD, EDGE or TRUST. +2
    • First to 12 points wins. Reader rotates each LOOP card. Nobody ever holds a hand of cards.
  2. Setup

    • Four face-down piles: WHO (15) · WHAT (15) · LOOP (16 item cards) · CHAOS (8 tagged cards).
    • The 4 Bot Builder category cards are the bases. The face-up WHO + WHAT pair is the brief — the story you'll tell, not a card anyone scores.
  3. 1. Slap the loop

    • The Reader draws the top LOOP card toward themselves, covers the big item name with a thumb, and reads only the hint aloud.
    • Everyone else slaps one base: SENSE, THINK, ACT, or POWER. Correct first slap → keep the card in front of you on that base, +1.
    • Wrong slap → sit out the next LOOP flip. Disputes are settled by the answer key on page 2 of the rules PDF.
  4. 2. BOT! — three cards, not four

    • The moment you have one SENSE + one THINK + one ACT in front of you, slap the table and shout BOT! You do not need a POWER card, and you do not need all four bases.
    • Say it in one breath: “For [WHO], our bot [WHAT]. If it [SENSE hint], then it [ACT hint] — it thinks with [THINK].” That's +3.
    • Optional POWER (+1): if you happen to have a POWER card, tap it and add “powered by [POWER]” for one extra point. Leave it untapped and you simply keep the card for next time.
    • Return only the cards you used to the bottom of the LOOP pile. Points already scored stay yours. Flip a new WHO + WHAT.
  5. 3. Chaos interrupt

    • Right after a BOT, flip the top CHAOS card into the middle and read the giant tag: WEIRD, EDGE, or TRUST.
    • Everyone races to slap that Chaos card and shout the tag. First correct slap → +2, or +4 if you currently have the fewest points.
    • Then the Reader reads the Ask out loud. No veto, no extra points — the table just hears it.
  6. How to score

    • +1 for each correct LOOP slap. The card stays on your base.
    • +3 for a BOT! (SENSE + THINK + ACT + the sentence).
    • +1 bonus if you tapped a POWER card during that sentence.
    • +2 for a correct Chaos tag slap — +4 if you are in last place.
    • First player to 12 points wins (10 in a two-player game).
  7. Two things people expect that aren't in this game

    • There is no Mission card. The WHO + WHAT brief is flavour for the sentence — it is never dealt to a player, never held, and never worth points.
    • Nothing scores for the bot “working” or “accomplishing the mission.” A silly bot scores exactly the same as a sensible one, and the table should never debate fit. Saying the sentence is the entire check.
    • Thinking of four or five cards? That's Bot-Builders, the other Hi, Bot deck: it needs all four parts plus a Mission and scores mission matches. Loop Slap is three cards, POWER optional, no Mission.
  8. Variants

    • Two players — same rules, Reader still rotates. First to 10.
    • Solo / speed — sort all 16 LOOP cards against the clock, then check the answer key. Beat your own time.
    • House chant — chant SENSE · THINK · ACT · POWER, one word per flip. Slap only if the hint matches the word just said.
