How It Works
- 1
Play tic-tac-toe at least 5–7 times. After each game, record the moves and mark which team won.
- 2
Review your games. Highlight the moves that led to wins. Look for patterns (e.g., 'Center + corner beats sides').
- 3
Write a 'Strategy Guide': 5–6 if-then rules (e.g., 'If opponent takes the corner, I should take the center').
- 4
Test your strategy against a friend (they play without seeing your rules). Play 5 games and score wins.
- 5
Analyze: Did your strategy work? Which rules matter most?
Your Work
Document your game grids, winning moves, and final strategy. Score your success rate.
Parent Notes
Encourage your child to look for patterns, not memorize every game. The goal is to see that strategy is learnable and testable. Ask: 'What would an AI need to know to play perfectly?' (Answer: all possible positions and the best move for each.)
Reflect
What did you learn? What was hard? What would you do differently next time?
