How It Works
- 1
Write a short script (setup → conflict → resolution, max 1 page). Example: 'A kid loses their homework and has to retrace their steps.'
- 2
Storyboard: Draw 6–8 key shots (or describe them). Annotate camera angle, action, and sound.
- 3
Create a shot list: for each storyboard frame, note the camera angle, what happens, how long (seconds), and any sound/music.
- 4
Film: Use natural light, handheld is OK, aim for 5–15 seconds per shot minimum. Save all footage.
- 5
Edit: Arrange clips in order, add transitions, insert title/end cards, color-correct if needed, add sound/music.
- 6
Reflect: What worked? What surprised you? What's one thing you'd do differently?
Your Work
Script + storyboard + shot list + link to final film (YouTube, Vimeo, or share as file). 1-paragraph reflection.
Parent Notes
Emphasize story over technical polish. A clear narrative with a phone camera beats perfect footage with no story. Help with editing if needed, but encourage your child to try the software first. Ask: 'What did you learn about visual storytelling?'
Reflect
What did you learn? What was hard? What would you do differently next time?
